bijayashree singing at ILO Auditorium

Occasion:Independence day (India)
Date: 15th August 2011
Venue: International Labor Organization Auditorium,
Geneva, Switzerland.

Hi Friends
Its been months now I am thinking to sharing some of my programme videos with all of you. However, I could not find time to do so since I was really busy with my concerts & some music collaborations. Now that I  am free, at least till the end of the November, so thought of doing it slowly.

This song is my personal favorite & I am really happy to sing it on the occasion of our Independence Day here in Swiss. I have tried to give little of my original inputs in the song. I would like to thank Indian Association of Geneva for giving me this opportunity.
I wish you would all like it.
Until next, keep the faith..

Mhara ri Giridhar Gopal_Shree

Hi Friends
Mhara re Giridhar Gopala is a Meera Bhajan close to my heart. I love the song due to the sheer magic of the words & the way its been composed by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar ji in Miyan ki Malhar as far as I guess.
I got know Mr Rajiv Bhave through Muziboo platform through his uploads & his feed back on my uploads. I am really happy that Rajiv ji approched me to sing this song couple of weeks back. I think beside being a very good human being he also has a great taste of music as well. It is all my pleasure to know him through this song. The track & the mixing, all courtesy by him. Thank you Rajeev ji from the bottom of my heart:).
I will appreciate & welcome any feed backs from all of you.
Here is the write up from Mr Rajjev Bhave:
I have always been fond of this Meera Bhajan and asked Bijayshree to record it and offered to mix it. The track I had was not the greatest but I tweaked it to be presentable. Shree is extremely talented with a great understanding of Hindustani Classical Music. The lyrics and meaning are:
Mhara re Girdhar Gopal dusara na koiyaa

(I have Girdhar Gopal and none else)

Sadha sakal lok joyaa dusraa naa koiyaa

(I have seen all the people, but there is no one else)

bhaya chadya bandha chadya chadya saaga soyaa

(My family and my relatives abandoned me)

Sadhu sang baith baith lok laaj khoyaa.

(Associating with saint and sages i lost my prestige in the eyes of people)

Mhara re Girdhar Gopal dusara na koi

Bhaghar dekhiyaa raaji hyaa lagat dekhyaa royaa
(Looking at devotees i felt happy, looking worldly people makes me sad)

dudh math ghrut kadh liya dar diya choyaa

(I churned the milk, saved the milk and discarded the remainder)

Rana vish ro pyaalaa bhejiyaa piy magan hoyaa

(Rana sent a bowlfull of poisen, i drank with devotion and felt one with God)

Meera ri lagan lagyaa hod hoj hoyaa

(Meera is attracted towards the divine krihsna, come what may)

Until next, keep the faith...

Munbe Vaa En Anbe Vaa - Tamizh Duet Cover by Shreedhar Ganapathy & Bijayshree

“Music is so important. It changes thinking, it influences everybody, whether they know it or not. Music knows no boundary lines.” -Irving Berlin
For many of us, the lyric of a song is very important for emoting the song’s actual spirit, but there are songs that do not really need any translation, because the music speaks for itself. I remember as a child I was exposed to a variety of music, most of them are in Hindi, Oriya, & Bangla. The first ever Tamil song I actually heard was years back when the original Roja movie released. My cousin brother gifted me the album. I was instantly taken by the melody, the instruments, the vocals, even if I didn’t understand a word of the song. I became a great fan of A R Rehman. Me & my didi used to sing Chinna china asai every now & then without even knowing or caring about the meaning.
Munbe Vaa En Anbe Vaa is a song very close to my heart. I am so happy to record this one with Mr Shreedhar Ganapathy whom I really respect a lot as a good human being & as a very talented artist. Starting from suggesting a good microphone to taking care of the mixing part, he did it all.
A Big Thank you Shreedharji. It is a wonderful experience working with you.
This song needs no introduction as it is from the great music maestro A R Rehman. However, this is my first Tamil song here at Muziboo.
I will appreciate & welcome any feed back from all of you.

Mr. Shreedhar Ganapathy's thought:
Abouth a month or so ago, our highly talented and gifted vocalist, Dr. Bijayshree Samal (Shree), came up with a great suggestion to do a Tamizh duet, Munbe Vaa, a beautiful romantic song from the Movie Sillunu Oru Kaadhal with Music composed by maestro A R Rahman.
I am delighted to say this turned out to be a memorable experience for us.
Shree brought out the subtle nuances of the song very well with her beautiful voice and expressions. Given that Tamizh is not her mother tongue, I specially felt this was commendable.
I very much enjoyed working with her on this.

Happy Independence Day to All!

Ye jo des hai MERA, Swades hai MERA
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta

Mitti ki jo khushboo, MEIN kaise bhoolaaunga
MEIN chaahe kahin jaaun, MEIN laut ke aaunga
Nayi nayi raahon mein, dabi dabi aahon mein Khoye khoye dilse mere,

Koyi ye kahega............
Ye jo des hai tera, swades hai tera, tujhe hai pukaara
Ye woh bandhan hai jo kabhi toot nahin sakta
Mujhe hai pukaaraa

Wish you all a very Happy Independence Day...
Until next, keep the faith...
